  When visiting an area, I gravitate towards farm to table places. Therefore, my evaluation might be a bit stringent. I've been to some great spots! My recent trip to Evanston brought me to the Farmhouse. I was there at an in between time, 3pm on a Friday. They had a menu for this time period. The vegetarian burger sounded good and their house cider. I like a dry cider, so that worked, but the flavor is a little thin. Not bad, just not awesome. The burger was slow in coming, which was fine, I wasn't in a hurry. The rather thick bun was on the dry side, which I removed most after the first couple bites. The burger had a decent flavor but was very shmushy. The consistency more like hummus. The fries were fine, nothing special, but I really liked the homemade ketchup! The staff were very nice and the atmosphere pleasant. The price was high for what I received, though.

  Great place--food is delicious (with bread from Hewn) and the atmosphere is laid back. It really fits the Evanston culture/vibe as well. I will definitely go back to try more dishes. Even the salads are flavorful.

  Great beer selection and awesome food. It gets loud in here. There can be a vent blowing on you by the windows. These things don't bother me, but just an FYI.
